Premier League: Aston Villa vs Wigan Athletic

Aston Villa and Wigan Athletic was the third match which got the highest attendees in Premier’s League opening day. More than 35, 00 people watch the game held at Villa Park yesterday, August 15, 2009. M Clattenburg is the referee in this game.

The Villans have lost their first home game this 2009-2010 Premier League season. It will be their big advantage but Roberto Martinez Gutierrez’ (Latics head coach ) men were all in good mood. They control the game from the beginning ’till final seconds of the game. Hugo Rodallega Martinez, Colombian footballer and striker of Latics, fired up 31 minutes of the game. Brad Friedel, Aston Villa’s goalkeeper, tried to catch the ball but he seems helpless in that moment. Before half time, the Rodallegea tried to steal points but the ball was captured by Friedel’s legs. At 43 minutes, Fabian Delph of Aston Villa received a yellow card.

The Villans rested and still has positive view in the game as second half starts but Latics’ midfielder Jason Koumas exploded at 56 minutes in the game. Titus Bramble with his partner Paul Scharner is doing great as well yesterday not letting Villans to take a free shot but at 79 minutes of the game, Bramble received a yellow card. Latics showed great defense. Before the game ends, both teams received yellow card: Paul Scharner of Wigan Athletic and Ashley Young of Aston Villa, leaving Villans scoreless.
