ADIDAS GOLDEN BALL AWARD: FIFA announced the Golden Ball Award candidates for the 2010 World Cup in a press conference on Friday. The selection was made by a group of football experts called the “FIFA’s Technical Study Group” and the winners will be chosen by representatives of the media.

The Golden Ball is awarded to the best player of the World Cup tournament. The second best player will receive the Silver Ball award and the third place will receive the Bronze Ball award. The 2006 Golden Ball award winner is the retired French footballer Zinedine Zidane. Former Italian national team captain Fabio Cannavaro won the 2006 Silver Ball award while Italian free-kick specialist Andrea Pirlo won the 2006 Bronze ball award.
This year, three of the selected candidates are from Spain, two are from Germany, another two from Netherlands, and one from Uruguay, Ghana, and Argentina.

i saw all the matches of the turnament.i think new generation play maker Mesut Ozil deserve to win the golden ball of the 2010 world cup.

i belive, Lionel Messi should obviously deserve to win the golden ball award. Bcoz,he was the only man who carried out not only the play maker but also made great contribution to win any of the previous match.

Well, ron.. Not really. He did carry out a good play, but wasn’t able to make his team win, Nor even make close attacks. on the other side, forlan played an amazing goal, as a Captain, Striker and Goal scorer. He deserved it!
Forlan is worth it. I love villa
