Germany defeated Uruguay, 3-2, in the 2010 World Cup third place play-off on Saturday, July 10, 2010. Both teams performed well but too bad they didn’t make it to the finals.
VfB Stuttgart midfielder Sami Khedira scored the winning goal and gave Germany their second third-place finish in consecutive World Cup tournaments. He broke a tie game in the 82nd minute and lead his team to third place. Aside from Khedira, Thomas Muller and Marcell Jansen were the goal scorers in the game. Muller scored in the 19th minute and that was his fifth goal in this year’s World Cup tournament. He is now tied with Spain’s David Villa for the Golden Boot award.
