Sir Alex Ferguson cleared all speculations and rumours regarding Manchester United striker Michael Owen’s probable transfer on January 2011. He said that Owen will stay at United and there will be no transfer arrangements to be made.
When asked about possible loan arrangement, Ferguson strongly said that Owen is definitely not going anywhere. He made it clear to Owen’s suitors, like Aston Villa, that he will not be loaned out by United this coming month. This is a striking remark of Ferguson in an interview made by Daily Mail:
“Forget it. Michael is going nowhere.”
The speculations regarding Owen’s transfer to another club originated way back September 2010 when new Aston Villa boss Gerard Houllier admitted that he was interested with the ex-Liverpool star.
After recovering from hamstring problem, Owen is back on training, and Ferguson ended all the transfer rumours. He said that even though Owen had injury problems, he never been a problem with him since he came to United.
“He is great to have around. He conducts himself well and is a great example to the younger players.”
