Chelsea beat Manchester United, 2-1, in a dramatic away game at Old Trafford on Saturday, April 3, 2010. They were able to steal the top 1 spot from United and it gives them higher chance of winning this season. Chelsea now has 23 wins, 5 draws, 5 losses, and with a total of 74 points while United has 23 wins, 3 draws, 7 losses, and with a total of 72 points.
Manchester United can still feel their lost against the Blues. They’ve struggled in the field, looking for somebody to score for them but nobody did except for Italian striker Federico Macheda who scored at 81 minutes in the game. Of course the team has adapted to the absence of Cristiano Ronaldo and Carlos Tevez, who were no longer part of the team and that is not a reason anymore. They manage to dominate in the Premier League for several months without Ronaldo and Tevez but it seems that being defeated by tough team like Chelsea is likely the outcome if their star player and top scorer Wayne Rooney is not in the field.

Rooney, who is sidelined by his ankle injury, watched his team being beaten by Chelsea from his executive box. He cannot do anything but hope that somebody from the team would take a goal. Bulgarian striker Dimitar Berbatov, who joined United from Tottenham for £30.75 million in September 2008, was left in the field and was given a chance to make his own history but he missed it. It was a wasted opportunity. He forced a volley which could have tied the score, but Petr Cech blocked it. Berbatov should have done better, but instead his shot went straight in the keeper.
United knows that Berbatov isn’t the only one to blame. They are also complaining about the referee who didn’t call for a foul when Korean international Ji-Sung Park was fouled in the box by Yuri Zhirkov.
