Manchester United’s boss Alex Ferguson was very disappointed with Wayne Rooney. Rooney played for England in the midweek friendly against Egypt on March 3 and Ferguson believed that he was being used too much in that game. Manchester United’s star striker played the full 90 minutes and contributed to England’s 3-1 victory even though he still has an injury.
Rooney is still struggling with his knee injury which he got from Sunday’s Carling Cup final. Ferguson could not believe that he didn’t come off. He couldn’t blame England’s boss Fabio Capello and he knows that Rooney should have taken care of the situation himself.
Ferguson knew that he will not really play on the said friendly game because Rooney told him that he was feeling his knee. This is what he said in an interview made by ESPN:
“All of a sudden you press get hold of him, and people put an arm round his shoulder with England, and he wants to play. He went into the game with an injury and I don’t think he should have played but his own enthusiasm has caused it. He can’t say no, that’s his problem.”
Rooney is a very important player for Manchester United and now he is a doubt for the Wolverhampton game today, March 6. Although, the Red Devils seats on the second place in the Premier League standings, with just one point behind Chelsea, they will not take the game against the Wolves for granted.
