AS Roma midfielder Daniele De Rossi, who recently struggled with a minor calf problem, contributed largely on Italy’s first game in the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
The “Future Captain” (Capitan Futuro) was able to slide the ball home in the 63rd minute after Pepe launches corner kick into the danger zone (View Italy vs Paraguay live updates). Rossi scored a great goal to tie it up and avoid the loss. That goal serves as a “huge relief” for head coach Marcello Lippi.
Although De Rossi was able to tied the score, he was not totally happy with his game. According to a recent interview made by Sky Sports Italia, he blamed himself for letting Paraguayan center back Antolin Alcaraz to score in the 39th minute. He got distracted at that moment. It was his reponsibility to mark Alcaraz but he failed to do so. He’s really angry to himself.
De Rossi also admitted that Paraguay players are aggressive. They need to improve on their next game to stay alive in the World Cup group stage elimination round.
