2010 WOLRD CUP GOLDEN BALL AWARD: 
Although Uruguay wasn’t able to get the third place medal in the 2010 World Cup title, there’s a reason for Atletico de Madrid striker Diego Forlan to celebrate. Forlan won the 2010 Golden Ball award and the media thinks that his World Cup performance is better than Spain top goalscorer David Villa and Netherlands top goalscorer Wesley Sneijder. Sneijder received the Silver Ball award while Villa received the Bronze Ball award.
Forlan contributed a goal in the second round of group stage matches against South Africa and in the quarterfinal game against Ghana. He also contributed a goal together with teammate Maxi Pereira in the semifinal game against Netherlands and in the third place play off against Germany.
