Arsenal central midfielder Francesc Fabregas will be out for 6 weeks with a cracked bone in his right leg which he got on their Champions League match against Barcelona on Wednesday night, March 31, 2010.
Fabregas sustained the small fracture when he tangled with the Barcelona captain and defender, Carles Puyol, which earned Arsenal a 2-2 draw. After he had taken the kick himself and scored his 19th goal of the season to make the score tied at 2-2, he was immediately in discomfort but he still continued to play until the last minutes of the game. Afterwards, he feared that he suffered a crack in his right leg.
Fabregas was immediately diagnosed and scan results showed that he suffered a small crack in his right fibula. Because of this fracture, he has been ruled out for the rest of Arsenal’s season and he might miss the 2010 FIFA World Cup games. This is the statement released by Arsenal:
“Following a scan this afternoon, the club can confirm that Cesc Fabregas has suffered a small crack in his right fibula as a result of the collision with Barcelona defender Carles Puyol during Wednesday evening’s match.
Arsenal has lot of injuries aside from Fabregas. Arsenal winger Andrei Arshavin and defender William Gallas will be out for three weeks. Arsenal full back Gael Clichy and midfielder Denilson who has a groin problem were doubts on their game against Wolverhampton on Saturday.
