UNITED STATES VS GHANA RESULT: United States was eliminated in the 2010 FIFA World Cup tournament after being beaten badly by Ghana, 2-1, in Round of 16 held in Rustenburg on Saturday, June 26.

Sunderland defender John Mensah was right. He was interviewed before the game started and as what he said, his team is more confident to face United States than facing England for they haven’t played with England before. He said that they can beat United States again as what they did in the last world Cup. And it really happened; Ghana won by one point lead in extra time.
The Black Stars were inspired and full of energy during their game from the first half until the last minute of the extra time period. Portsmouth central midfielder Kevin Prince-Boateng unleashed a left-footed shot in the 5th minute. It was an early goal for Ghana that shocked United States team.
It was a scoreless game for The Yanks not until L.A. galaxy midfielder Landon Donovan scored for the team in the second half. Donovan scored a penalty kick in the 61st minute after Clint Dempsey was taken down inside the box. The game ended in a draw game that they needed an extra 30 minutes to break a tie-game.
Rennes forward Asamoah Gyan smashed a left-foot shot over goalkeeper Tim Howard in the 92nd minute. That was a superb goal from Gyan and that was the last goal in the game.
U.S. will regret having a sloppy game in the first half and uninspiring finish in their game against Ghana. They weren’t able to break Ghana’s defense in the extra time. For Ghana, this will be another memorable moment for them. They have beaten U.S. and they were the second team to qualify for the 2010 FIFA World Cup quarterfinal. They will face Uruguay on July 2 at Soccer City stadium in Johannesburg.
