By: Nemanja Lewis @ Saturday, 19, 2010

Inter Milan superstar striker Samuel Eto’o was hot during the first half of their game against Denmark earlier (View Cameroon vs Denmark). Eto’o fired a right footed shot wide in the 10th minute of the game giving his team a one point lead. He blazed past the Danish goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen, scoring the first goal of the game and first goal for Cameroon in the World Cup.

The Indomitable Lions and their fans celebrated their team’s goal. It was a remarkable performance but it was not enough to save his team. Their momentum was suddenly stopped by Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner who scored in the 33rd minute. Ajax winger Dennis Rommedahl roasted Hotspur Benoit Assou-Ekotto as he beats the offside trap and puts the ball on a plate for Nicklas Bendtner, who slides in and converts at the far post.

After halftime breaks, The Indomitable Lions were still determined to even score by taking more ball possession. RCD Mallorca striker Pierre Webo tried to score in the 59th minute as he darts into the box but Liverpool central defender Daniel Agger stretched out a leg and got enough on the ball to stop him. After two minutes, Denmark scored for another goal. Rommedahl scored in the 61st minute giving Denmark a one point lead.

Rommedahl’s goal ruined The Indomitable Lions’s hopes and dreams. They were now the first team eliminated in the World Cup tournament.

Cameroon is known to be Africa’s most successful side having qualified six times in World Cup, the first African team to reach the quarterfinal of the 1990 World Cup, have won gold medal at the 2000 Summer Olympics, and have won 4 Africa Cup Nations title. But their journey in this year’s World Cup has ended. Ghana is the only African team who reached the top spot in World Cup group match round. They currently leads group D with 4 points which is one point ahead to Germany and Serbia.
