SLOVAKIA VS ITALY: Italy and Slovakia is one of the first match set for the group stage final round today, June 24, 2010 at Ellis Park stadium in Johannesburg.
After having draw games with Paraguay on their World Cup opener, 1-1, and with New Zealand on their second game, 1-1, head coach Marcello Lippi may do some changes in their lineup or tactics today. AC Milan midfielder Andrea Pirlo might play for the team after suffering from a calf injury. If ever he will be fit to play, Lippi may put him in the field to replace Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio. Marchisio may give way to Pirlo for he was unable to create an impact for Azzurri.
Azzurri are the depending champions. A draw game can get them an entry to the Round of 16 but they have to rely on Paraguay and New Zealand’s game. Paraguay should beat New Zealand so that they can qualify but if New Zealand beat Paraguay, their World Cup dream is over. One thing that would guarantee their progress to the next round is a win against Slovakia. They need to win if they don’t want things to be complicated.
