We are now on extra time! Spain and Netherlands weren’t able to score in the first and second half of the game. Even though ball stays longer in the Spain’s side, Dutch can still control the game. Both teams showed great defense but Spain have to be careful for they have never scored a goal after 90 minutes in the five World Cup matches where they have gone to extra-time.
Bayern Munich Arjen Robben missed two best chances to score in the game. In the 83rd minute, Robben burst clear of Carles Puyol to get to the ball. He was almost four steps closer to the net when goalkeeper Iker Casillas grabs the ball.
Nigel de Jong was substituted by Rafael Van der Vaart while Edson Braafheid comes in for captain Giovanni Van Bronckhorst in the 105th munute. With 15 minutes left in the extra time, Bosque decided to put Villa on bench and Fernando Torres on the field. Would it turn out to be a good decision?
