ENGLAND VS US: England captain Steven Gerrard early shot in the 4th minute showed his teammates that they can win against United States. Gerrard, who was assisted by Aston Villa striker Emile Heskey, shoots right footed. He flicked the ball past goalkeeper Tim Howard and drew loud cheers from the crowd.
The Three Lions already felt their victory in the first half but Fulham’s versatile attacking player, Clint Dempsey, rallied back to tie the game in just 5 minutes before halftime breaks. England’s goalkeeper Robert Green let the ball slip through his hands and he was blamed for this mistake.
Dempsey’s shot was not that strong. The ball headed straight to Green but it wriggled out of his grasp and over the line.
Both teams showed tough defense in the second half. Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney attempted three times to score for England from 70-75 minutes. He tried to drive the ball inside but failed to execute it well.
